Its that time of year when new life begins to show itself. You have to look long and hard, and very close to see those first tiny green leaves. Checking branches for signs that they are “wick”, watching for the fine tips of plants pushing through the chilly soil. Its wonderful walking around the garden seeing that most everything survived another Nebraska winter!!! Still waiting on a very small, newly planted (last summer) peach tree! Come on little peach tree!
I thought this photo by Rigel Celeste was perfect! ![]()

“Just Singing and Dancing in the Rain”

The rain finally fell…a soaking, life giving rain. In honor of this the Spring Peas sang and danced for joy (I did too, of course no one wants to see that! Ha!…).

The simple things are what life is about… the flock knows this very well as they hold hands and let the falling petals sprinkle down on them. Everyone and everything glowing, inside and out, in the light of a full moon.

The Spring Peas love their garden home but occasionally, for educational purposes, they take a field trip. The woodland gardens at the botanical park are proving to be a favorite as the tree huggers, gardeners, showoffs (actually just the one — thats him hanging upside down from a tree limb) and hikers all find something to love! ![]()
“With A Little Help From My Friend”

She can only go so high with her delicate wings, and she needs a new star for the tip of her wand. The Moon is happy to help….he just wishes the tip of his nose could be left out of the operation!
Waiting for the Spring peas to sprout here!!!

The field trip to pick some wild violets is over. The storm crawled quickly up over the hill, the rumbling and ominous color telling them to take cover. Always take these storms seriously. And that said, there’s nothing wrong with a little over reaction…or alot of over reaction! (Cats can be real babies sometimes….)
Happy Spring!!!
“Studying the Night Sky”

The moon is absent from the clear night sky as some from the flock study the stars and constellations of Spring. The little ones have an attention span of about 1 minute so they are doing their thing with their light sabers and star wands…educational….in a way…

Oh the Spring dance around the Maypole! You must focus. Some of us are not good at that. Of course the flock has the same diversity. All’s well and the ribbons are weaving together beautifully and then, never fails…a couple of sheep lose focus or get a little silly…maybe both.. and Sheep down! The thing to do is just keep going…. they will untangle themselves and rejoin the dance…..and honestly, sometimes its best if they just stay put at this point. ![]()
Its officially the first day of Spring! Yippee! So in honor of this, of course, I had to paint some Spring peas doing something odd as they always do.
Currently on auction on ebay. “Spring Peas Sneak Out At Night”. by Deborah Gregg
Young Spring peas find the warm night calling to them. They feel the need to do something wild and crazy so they sneak out of the pod, climbing down (with some difficulty…..) and take off. Except for the two there who think its a horror film in the making! Don’t worry for them though, they all made it back, not all that exciting out there I guess. They came to this conclusion after running into a rather large, (with an appetite to match his portly size!) brown garden toad. ![]()
March Hares Dance On The Crescent Moon”

“Mad as a March Hare” is more than just a saying. It does happen. When the golden crescent moon hung so low one night two rabbits (stricken with spring fever) just had to climb up and do a little moon dance. And the sheep felt quite entertained!
