It didn’t look that far. They thought they would have plenty of time to walk across the field. And so they went off for that visit at the neighboring farm. But the Blizzard came faster than predicted and caught the little peas out in the open. And so here they are, in peril. A very tough situation indeed. But the end of this story is happy (of course!) The resident mice of the winter fields heard their little pea voices and popped up out of their holes and led them down under the snow, into the warm, cozy, earth caves and there they stayed until the storm was over. Yes they have learned their lesson, especially since the mice went on and on and on about it! Never take chances with the winter weather. :) A tiny, primitive style folk art painting, done with acrylics on acid free,140 lb. watercolor paper. Has a protective finish, signed on front and back. The sparks were already flying in the pea pod this spring…but with the warm weather and sharing an amazing glass of lemonade with silly straws (peas must stay hydrated or they become quite pruny looking) a true summer romance has blossomed! Happy summer everyone! :)

The rain finally fell…a soaking, life giving rain. In honor of this the Spring Peas sang and danced for joy (I did too, of course no one wants to see that! Ha!…).

The Spring Peas love their garden home but occasionally, for educational purposes, they take a field trip. The woodland gardens at the botanical park are proving to be a favorite as the tree huggers, gardeners, showoffs (actually just the one — thats him hanging upside down from a tree limb) and hikers all find something to love! :)

Its officially the first day of Spring! Yippee! So in honor of this, of course, I had to paint some Spring peas doing something odd as they always do. :) Currently on auction on ebay. “Spring Peas Sneak Out At Night”. by Deborah Gregg
Young Spring peas find the warm night calling to them. They feel the need to do something wild and crazy so they sneak out of the pod, climbing down (with some difficulty…..) and take off. Except for the two there who think its a horror film in the making! Don’t worry for them though, they all made it back, not all that exciting out there I guess. They came to this conclusion after running into a rather large, (with an appetite to match his portly size!) brown garden toad. :)

Yes, Spring Peas are very hardy! Here they are, all decked out in their winter finery, enjoying some snowy fun, sledding in a well preserved pea pod.As usual some are having a bit more fun than others…….but really……always remain seated in the pod while it is moving…. I’m just saying…. :)

The flock has many things they love to do on a winters night. All snuggled along the old log at the top of the hill, they watch as the full moon rises, large and golden. Its a favorite, all thats missing is popcorn! (the bunnies just enjoy the company). :)

It’s a good idea to start the day with some nice hot coffee or tea. Peas know this, but they can overdo it. Let’s have none of this “What? I only had one cup…” baloney. If the cup is as big as your head, you might want to cut down. :)

Spring Peas win the day!

Drama in the garden! A large blackbird unwittingly strolls into the pea patch. There is a bit of a dust up as the peas go on the defensive, each pea using their own unique technique. Have no fear, the peas win the day! As the somewhat confused bird strolls back out of the pea patch. Had to put this one up, I finally planted some spring peas today! :)
