“Delicate Operation”

by Deborah Gregg
It immediately showed promise as a tiny green baby and they have been caring for it daily since. Now it truly is on its way to winning the blue ribbon for the flock in the “Biggest Pumpkin” competition at the Harvest Festival. Its serious business at this delicate stage. Eleanor checks its “life force” with her stethoscope, Harold gives it more liquid nutrition, Mable keeps its orange, smooth surface free of dirt, Marvin is settling in for night watchman detail, equipped with a strong cup of coffee, and last but not least, Junior is on the hunt ( using his trusty little red flashlight ) for possible threats by bugs up to no good. An impressive group, Master gardeners all! A tiny, primitive style folk art painting, done with acrylics on acid free,140 lb. watercolor paper. Has a protective finish, signed on front and back.An ACEO ( Art Cards, Editions and Originals ) This piece measures a tiny, 2.5″ tall and 3.5″ wide (image shown is larger than the actual painting). Copyright notice on piece is on digital image only, not on actual painting. I would love to paint this again . Price is 69.50 this includes shipping.

Yes, Something can be ughly and beautiful at the same time! as demonstrated by this caterpillar. :) a wonderful photo by Rigel Celeste

“Firefly Dance”

by Deborah Gregg
On a warm summer night a group of friends from the pasture gather to watch the firefly dance. The rabbits, cats, sheep and a mouse ( he’s a bit large for a mouse but he insists that he indeed is a mouse, stating…..”I had a good upbringing…lots of quality nutrition”) sit spellbound by the beautiful show going on all around them. Watch for the fireflies ( lightning bugs is what we called them) this year and just watch, let them do their thing (looking for love) and be amazed!!! :)

The rains have been generous this year on the Prairie. The summer wildflowers on the hill are at their best. Its hard to come in from this all this…..the scent…the soft breeze….just one more bouquet for the house…..(The dog , sheep, and cat, feel the same ).And everyone will have a flower for their hair………we’ll just say the moon is wearing hers on her upper right quadrant?? :) God Bless Wildflowers! :)

The Lily Of The Valley is blooming and the flowers are wonderful this year. And that means it’s time to try on (never pinching them off the stalk unless its a perfect fit) new hats! :) Happy Spring Gardening! :)

A soft Spring rain falls as friends gather at the garden fence to chat under a red umbrella. :) Happy Spring Gardening! :) Although today here in Nebraska Winter is back and the icing, wind, and cold make that seem far away.

And this little hill has needed a tree to anchor it and provide some shade for those who do their dreaming here. The cat and especially the birds agree! Happy Spring Gardening!

One of the earliest blooming Spring bulbs are the hardy Snowdrops. Blooming and beautiful even in a Spring snow shower. And the snow cannot stop the joyful fun of a little garden fairy as she hops from nodding stem to stem (don’t worry she is quite toasty, she’s wearing her red long johns under her dress!).
